Sri Lanka
Q. Do you require a visa to visit Sri Lanka?
A. No you do not need a visa as long as your visit does not exceed 30 days. All you need is a valid passport that is current.
Q. Is Sri Lanka a safe country to visit?
A. Yes, Sri Lanka Tours are safe and this is currently a peaceful country. There was a long drawn out war between the Tamils and the Singhalese the two main races in the country but after a bitter war that lasted over twenty five years, the war is now over and peace has returned to the island. Even during the height of the dispute, it was still safe for tourists, as they were not in any way targeted. The war has been over for more than two years and now the country is devoid of any violence and is extremely safe.
Q. Is liquor permitted in the country?
A. Yes, there are no restrictions on liquor and the consumption of liquor, but the authorities have a zero tolerance policy on driving under the influence. DO NOT Drive after taking even one drink of alcohol.
Q. Is nudity permitted on Sri Lankan beaches?
A Nudity is not permitted. On the beaches, beachwear is permissible, but is frowned upon if worn on public highways etc. Also be decently dressed, when visiting places of worship, particularly Buddhist temples. You are required to remove all footwear when entering temples.
Q. How do you transact business in Sri Lanka? Can you use foreign currency?
A. Most shop and other commercial establishments accept Credit Cards and Debit Cards, we would advise travelers to change some money into the local currency i.e rupees and cents. The rupee is divided into 100 cents.
Q. Is it safe to use the Trishaws (three wheeled taxis)?
A. They are generally safe to use, but they charge almost the same as a metered taxi, sometimes more. Therefore, we do not advise using these on a regular basis. It may be a nice to experience a ride in one, for the heck of it!
Note on Health
There is no law requirement for you to be inoculated against any decease prior to visiting Sri Lanka. However, remember that you are traveling to the tropics and we would strongly advise you to ensure that you are immunized against hepatitis A Typhoid and Polio and also carry anti malaria capsules with you.
It is a good thing to avoid drinking the water off the tap and always drink Bottled water even in the hotel. Avoid, eating street food as a precaution.
Dubai
Q. Do you require a visa to visit Dubai?
A. Most overseas travelers do need a visa to enter Dubai, the exceptions being, American Passport Holders, British Passport Holders, Australian Passport Holders, Canadian and some Europeans. The safest way to find out is to call the local council office or embassy for the UAE. And inquire. Obtaining a visa is straight forward and simple.
Q. Is Dubai a safe country to visit ?
A. Dubai is very safe to visit, has always taken a pro-western stance on all international affairs. It does not tolerate anyone trying to insight violence.
Q. Is there a dress code in Dubai?
A. No there is no dress code for foreigners. You may dress as you wish as long as you are decently covered and not over exposed. Beach wear is allowed at the swimming pools and beaches but not in public places. Although this is a Muslim country, the authorities are very tolerant with visitors.
Q. Respecting the Muslim religion
A, During Muslim religious activities such as Ramadhanetc, when the locals are fasting, they expect you to respect their sacrifice and pain and not eat or drink in public in their presence.
Q Is the consumption of alcohol permitted in public?
A. Yes this is permitted in Hotels and Restaurants by the tourists. But there is zero tolerance for driving under the influence.
